Jimmy Ferritto, Tommy Zeigler and George DiCamillo continue their winning ways on the first night of the Mentor District.

Saint Ignatius' 106-pounder Jimmy Ferritto, who has put together a solid season for the Wildcats' varsity wrestling program, defeated Tristan Smith of Massillon, 10-3, in Friday's opening round of the tradition-rich Mentor District.

Jimmy also decisioned Daniel Clement of Solon, 8-1, in the quarterfinals.

The Wildcats' George DiCamillo, the top-ranked 120-pounder in the nation and Ohio's state champ at 112 last year, extended his remarkable winning streak to 68 matches and his school-record career mark to 146 victories. George started his night by pinning Jeremy Adkins of Euclid in 0.47 and then came up with a technical fall triumph over Zac Carson of Lake, 15-0, in the quarterfinals. George upped his season record to 31-0.

Tommy Zeigler, who finished a qualifying third at Mentor last season at 103, continued his excellence at 113 pounds by recording two pins and joining Jimmy and George in Saturday's semifinals. Tommy pinned Brandon Miller of Canton McKinley in 2:47 in his quarterfinal match.

Scott Chase (182) and Nick Lees (152) recorded pins in their opening matches, but were defeated in the quarterfinal round, as was Ethan Janesz (160), who had won his opening match by a decision.

Coach Mark Sullivan's Wildcats stand in sixth place after two rounds with 38.5 points.

Action resumes on Saturday with the consolation round at 9 a.m. The semifinals are at 12:30 p.m and the championship finals are slated for 7 p.m. The top four in each weight class advance to next weekend's OHSAA State Wrestling Championships at The Ohio State University.
