Joking about "taking two days off" following the OHSAA state wrestling championships, Saint Ignatius' record-setting, two-time undefeated state champion George DiCamillo is preparing for two major post-high school season events.

As we reported on the corner during the week of the OHSAA state championships, George will be competing in the Dapper Dan tournament during the weekend of March 25th in Pittsburgh and, during the weekend of April 20th in Iowa City, DiCamillo will be part of the United States Dream Team that will go up against an always formidable team of nationally ranked wrestlers representing Iowa.

A senior and a Virginia Cavalier recruit, George enters these prestigious events as the top-ranked 120-pounder in the nation. He ended his career at Saint Ignatius with a school-record 152 victories, including a 74-match winning streak.

FORMER WILDCAT GREATS TO HOST A SPECIAL FOOTBALL CAMP FOR KIDS.

Just a reminder that Le' Charles Bentley and Chris Gizzi, who excelled in football at Saint Ignatius and Ohio State and Air Force, repsectively, and went on to NFL careers with Le' Charles garnering All-Pro honors, will be hosting a Youth Football and Speed Camp this Sunday, March 18, at the Force Fitness Indoor Sports Complex on 21220 Center Ridge Road in Rocky River. The camp is open to 5th-to-8th-grade football players.

Some of Saint Ignatius' current football players will also take part in the camp, which will run from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. There will be a special Mini Seminar from Chris Gizzi that will run from 5:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Coast of the camp is $35 pre-registration at www.zoneready.net and $40 the day of the camp. There will be no need to knock on wood for the baseball team this spring. Most of the 'Cats have traded in the "ping" of aluminum for the sweet sound of splendid splinter.
