Put Boston College at or near the top of Kevin Kavalec's recruiting list, as the Eagles have offered Saint Ignatius' senior defensive end a full scholarship.

Jim Kavalec, Kevin's dad, said Kevin is "very excited" over BC's offer.

Selected as one of Coach Chuck Kyle's captains for the 2012 season, Kevin is coming off an exceptional junior year that saw him earn first-team All-Ohio and first-team All-Northeast Lakes District honors in Division I.

A Plain Dealer seven county All-Star selection, Kevin displayed relentless pursuit in helping key a defense that led the charge to an Ohio-record 11th Division I state championship in 2011, adding to the record 10 state football titles the Wildcats had already achieved.

Although Kevin and Saint Ignatius' other seniors can not sign an official NCAA letter of intent until February 2013, they are permitted to give verbal commitments to colleges or universities at any point prior to the official signing date.

As always, we'll keep you updated throughout the summer on those 'Cats who make an early decision.
