Mother Nature makes the biggest play

The ominous clouds hovered over Wasmer Field like a traditional Saint Ignatius defense.

A few seconds later, Coach Chuck Kyle ordered his players to get off the field and inside the school building as a blitz of heavy rain and winds swept across the field.

That was the end to Thursday night's varsity football mini camp, which started with the tradtional conditioning sprints and inlcuded a couple of sharp passing drills (Mike LaManna to Aaron Buynak) before Mother Nature called an abrupt halt to the action.

Even the traditional and spirited 7-on-7 had to be interrupted. Now you know the weather had to be more than threatening for a 7-on-7 to be cut short.

The Wildcats will be back on Wasmer Field for the final mini camp on Friday afternoon, with the junior varsity reporting at 3 and the varsity at 4:30.

Monday will mark the beginning of two-a-days.
