Computer playoff guru Joe Eitel has Saint Ignatius and St. Edward rated 1-2, respectively, in his latest Division I, Region 1 football ratings.

Entering Week 6, the 5-0 Wildcats remain in the top spot with an average of 12.2816 and the 5-0 Eagles are second at 12.2697.

Although the official OHSAA computer ratings are not released until Tuesday, Eitel is usually right on the money. Under the OHSAA Harbin playoff system, the top eight teams in each of the state's 24 regions at the end of the regular season advance to the postseason and the top four in each region are awarded a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

Here is how Eitel sees the remainder of the top eight in Region 1: Austintown Fitch (third); North Royalton (fourth); Willoughby South (fifth); Cleveland Heights (sixth); Mentor (seventh) and North Olmsted (eighth).

The first round of the OHSAA playoffs matches 1 against 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6 and 4 vs. 5.

Glenville (4-1), Saint Ignatius' opponent on Saturday night at 7 in Byers Field, is currently 10th in Region 1. That only adds to what is already a solid rivalry between the 'Cats and the Tarblooders, as an upset by Glenville would vault it into the thick of the Region 1 race.

The corner will preview the Wildcats-Tarblooders game on Tuesday night.
