Major state-wide match at Wasmer Thursday night

After playing nine of its past 10 matches on the road, Coach Mike McLaughlin's varsity soccer team will host the Twinsburg Tigers tomorrow night (Thursday) on Wasmer Field. Action will get under way with the junior varsity game at 6, followed by the varsity match at 8.

The varsity Wildcats enter the game with a 10-0-1 record and ranked No. 1 in the coaches' state poll, and the Tigers are 9-0-1 and ranked seventh in Ohio. Adding to the match is the fact that the 'Cats and the Tigers are 1-2 in the area coaches poll.

Twinsburg's 1-1 tie came at Solon, a team the 'Cats defeated, 3-0, in the season opener on Wasmer Field. Saint Ignatius and St. Edward played to a 0-0 tie last week on the Eagles' Coughlin Field and the Wildcats bounced back with a 2-1 victory at Massillon Jackson on Saturday, as Colin Cleary and Ty Sanda found the back of the net.

Saint Ignatius' JV team stands 10-1 on the season. Junior varsity coach Jim Brennan '85 enters Thursday's game with 209 career victories and Coach McLaughlin will be seeking his 298th career win.
