Coach Gallagher's cross country report

Here is Coach Mike Gallagher's up close look at this past Saturday's Midwest Meet of Champions at Hilliard Bradley High School.

The Midwest Meet of Champions course is typically flat and fast. With temperatures in the upper 60s , the Wildcats took advantage of the near perfect conditions. In the varsity and JV/Open races, 38 Wildcats posted PRs ranging from a few seconds to over a minute. It was one of the closest finishes between three of the top teams in the state, with only 2 points separating the teams. The Wildcats tied with Mason at 89 points and won on the 6th-place tiebreaker by one point. Westerville North finished a close third with 91 points.

Luke Wagner and Jack Miller led the Wildcats in 15:52 PR and 15:56, respectively. Joe Arquillo 16:17 PR, Tim Trentel 16:34 PR, Pat Scanlon 16:35 PR, Vince Bartram 16:36 and Elliot Thorkelson 16:43 PR rounded out the Saint Ignatius Varsity 7.

Dylan Lynch 16:51 PR was the overall winner in the Open Race, leading the Wildcats to another close victory over Mason, 21 to 38. Jack Politowicz 16:54 PR, Jack Fitzgerald 17:07, Tom Sullivan 17:08 PR, Jake Maier 17:10, Jim Rogers 17:21 PR and David Meler 17:33 all scored for the Wildcats.
