The Aqua Cats Are District Runner Ups

8 Wildcat swimmers have qualified for the State Meet in Canton after placing second at the District Meet.

BOWLING GREEN, Oh - The Swimming and Diving Cats took second place at the District Meet at Bowling Green State University over the weekend as the Wildcats qualified eight swimmers for the State Meet. The Wildcats were runner-ups as they combined for a team score of 306.5 and Toledo St. Francis de Sales took the Northwest District crown. 

The junior class will be well represented in Canton, beginning with Josh Toothman continuing his impressive postseason at the District Meet as he has qualified for the State Meet. At Districts, Tootman took home first place in the 50-Yard and 100-Yard Freestyle events. In the 50-Yard Freestyle, Toothman finished with a time of 20.73 and in the 100-Yard Freestyle finished with a time of 46.25. Toothman will be seeded third for the 50-Yard event at the State Meet and eighth seed for the 100-Yard Freestyle. 

Junior Tyler Williams has qualified for the 100-Yard and 200-Yard Freestyle races at the State Meet. In the 100-Yard Freestyle, Williams finished in second place with a time of 47.05 and will be seeded 14th heading to Canton. In the 200-Yard Freestyle, Williams placed third with a time of 1:43.02 and will be seeded 19th in the State Meet.

Rounding out the junior class in the individual events is Anthony Mcintyre. Mcintyre has also qualified for States in the 100-Yard and 200-Yard Freestyle. The junior placed third place in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 48.07 and placed fifth in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:45.31. Mcintyre will be seeded 32nd for both events at the State Meet. 

The Wildcats would take first, second and third place in the 100-Yard Freestyle at the District Meet. 

Rounding out the individual events was the 100-Yard Breaststroke that featured freshman Jude Banks. Banks placed second at 57.35 and will be the 11th seed heading to the State Meet. 

The relay teams for the Aqua Cats were impressive and have strong groups heading to Canton next weekend for the State Meet. In the 200-Yard Medley Relay, the team of Toothman, Banks, Connor Fitzgerald and Max Santoro took second place with a time of 1:33.85. That time has earned them the seventh seed at the State Meet. 

The 200-Yard Freestyle Relay team of Williams, Luke Murtha, Isaac Chernisky and Santoro have qualified for the State Meet after placing second place with a time of 1:26.85. That group will be seeded tenth. 

The 400-Yard Freestyle team of Toothman, Santoro, Mcintyre and Williams will be racing out the relay events. They would place second with a time of 3:08.97 and seeded eighth at States. 

Eight swimmers will represent the Blue and Gold in Canton this weekend at the C.T. Branin Natatorium. Events will begin Friday morning from Canton McKinley.
