With wins against Parma and Midview, the Wildcats advance to the District Final to play Shaker Heights.

OHIO CITY, Oh - This past Wednesday, the Wildcat Soccer team took on the Midview Middies at Wasmer Field for the district semifinals. The Middies entered the match with their program's best team in years, coming off of a 12-1 victory over Lorain, giving them their first sectional championship since 1997.

They were eager to have their shot against the top-ranked Wildcats. The Wildcats had just knocked off Parma 14-0 to win the program's 25th sectional championship.

The game would open up slowly for both sides. The Middies' defensive prowess caught the Wildcats off guard, and thus they were not afforded many opportunities early. That is, until the 19th minute, junior Nick Mikulec would find a gap in the Midview backline and receive the ball in the box. He then would lay the ball off to Nolan Spicer, who put the ball in the back of the net to start the scoring for the Cats.

Midview would hold the Wildcats off the board for another 11 minutes until, in the 8th minute, Nick Mikulec would loft a cross in from the right side of the box right to Nick Trivisonno, who performed a clinical volley into the back of the net to extend the lead to two.

The Wildcats' first-half scoring wouldn't end there, as Spicer would pass a ball back to Mikulec three minutes later. They would strike the ball from over ten yards outside of the penalty box, where the ball would pass the goalkeeper's outstretched arms for a goal, giving the Wildcat side a 3-0 lead entering halftime.

The Saint Ignatius side would succeed early in the second half, with Spicer and Owen Sullivan goals in the 48th and 50th minutes. Capping off the scoring at the 63-minute mark as Spicer received a ball from Carter Snyder and tapped it into the back of the net, notching his third goal of the game and extending the Wildcat lead to 6-0.

As the full-time whistle blew, the Wildcats walked away victorious, winning 6-0. The side worked well to string together a sizable victory over a Midview team that exceeded expectations all season long.

The Cats advance to 16-2-0 on the season and punch their ticket to the OHSAA District Final against the Red Raiders of Shaker Heights. The game will be a rematch from earlier in the season in which the Wildcats walked away with a 4-0 victory. The game will be played this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium.
