Jacob Rocky strikes out 10 as the Wildcats will play Wadsworth on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

The Wildcats have taken their first step in their journey to repeat as State Champions after a 16-0 victory over the Parma Redmen in the Sectional Final of the OHSAA Tournament. Senior pitcher Jacob Rocky totaled ten strikeouts in five innings of work as the WIldcats advance to play in the District Semifinal.

Wildcat batters were on fire in the Sectional Final as they would total 14 hits in the win. The scoring began early with an RBI triple by junior Gabe Nard. Anthony Paskell would quickly bring home Nard with an RBI single into center field. Perhaps the most significant highlight of the night was the Matt Giberti inside the park grand slam. Giberti, with his second at-bat of the first inning, would line a ball into center field. With the speed of the Harvard commit, Giberti came home with ease as the Wildcats took an 8-0 lead after the first inning.

Rocky would continue to outmatch the Redmen batters striking out four after two innings of work. The Wildcats would tack on two more in the second inning with a Sawyer Solitaria RBI single and Gip Conroy score on a passed ball, making the score 10-0 after two innings.

Rocky would strike out the side in just 16 pitches in the third inning, getting the Wildcat bats back-up to the plate. Junior Micah Murtha brought home Jacob Eiermann and Noah Brazytis on a two-RBI single to right field. The Cats lead the Redmen 12-0 after three innings.

The Cats would put four more runs on the board in the bottom half of the fourth inning as Brazytis started the scoring in the inning with an RBI single to center field scoring John Panstares. “I came off the bench trying to be aggressive,” Brazytis says. “I was looking for a pitch to drive and I got that.”

Rocky finished the ball game striking out the side for the second time as he would finish with ten strikeouts in the win.
