The Cats are 2-1 heading to Dublin Jerome today for a 4 p.m. match-up.

The Lacrosse Cats won two excellent games back-to-back this week to build momentum going into this afternoon’s game against Dublin Jerome. The Cats are firing on all cylinders in all facets of the game, and the Lax Cats are now 2-1 on the season.

On Tuesday, Saint Ignatius hosted the Indianapolis Cathedral Fighting Irish. It was an offensive spectacle for the Cats, scoring 16 in the first half, including five from junior Drew Wynocker, three from senior Kenneth Klubnik, and two from junior Luciano Yacavone. After building a 16-4 lead, the Cats cooled off in the second half and came away with a 21-12 win for their first victory of the season.

Also scoring in this game for the Cats were Braeden Lair, Kyu Shim, Adam Ormstead, Nathan Zoldesy, Matt Kempton, Griffin Taliak, and Mitchell Rini. Wynocker ended the contest with seven goals and won player of the game. “The motto tonight was to bounce back,” says Wynocker. We had a challenging match Friday against WRA, but Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Anthony Rubino said it best; good teams don’t lose twice in a row; we were punched in the face and didn’t let up.”

On Wednesday, the Shaker Heights Raiders came to Wasmer Field. The Wildcats split their goals differently in this one, with just eight in the first half. Then, in the third quarter, the Cats exploded for seven goals in 12 minutes and added three more in the fourth. Wynocker had three, Klubnik had three on back-to-back-to-back goals in the third, and Yacavone had three as well. Ormstead, Lair, Kempton, Shim, Zoldesy, and Rini also scored against the Raiders. The SIBN player of the game was goalie Logan Rechin who had a ridiculous game in goal, saving nine out of 12 shots faced, giving the Cats an 18-3 victory.

“We all came ready to play, got a good night of rest, water, food, and we all came out hard again,” says Rechin. “We always will come out hard, and we’re getting into it now.”

The Lacrosse Cats are back in action tonight! SIBN will not cover the game. All three Lacrosse squads will take on Dublin Jerome. Varsity will face-off at 4 p.m.
