On March 2, unfortunate news broke out of Amherst-Steele as there was a positive covid case for the Comets. The District Semifinal was canceled for Wednesday night and listed as a no-contest from Amherst-Steele.

The Comets finished their season with a 17-3 record and achieved one of their program history's best seasons. They won the Southwestern Conference title for the first time since the 1991-92 season.

Saint Ignatius will now advance to the OHSAA District Championship on Saturday night to take on Garfield Heights/Lorain's winner. The District Championship is set for a 7 p.m. start time at Sullivan Gym. The Wildcats will look for a Regional Semifinal birth with a win. This game will be streamed with live video on the SIBN.
