The Saint Ignatius Wildcats JV one and JV two squads are league champions after their match on January 30 at Brooklyn Lanes. The JV one squad finished the season bowling their way to a perfect 12-0 record. Along with winning the league championship.

"Throughout the season, this JV one team was focused and confident," says Assistant Coach Chris Nagy. "These kids would come to practice, excited to bowl and better themselves as a student of the game." JV one defeated Padua 1605 to 1525 to hoist the league championship.

Junior bowler Mason Cook took a significant step forward this season, bowling his way to being a top competitor at the JV level, as well as getting called up for matches with the varsity squad. In the league championship, Cook totaled 366 pins, the most from a Wildcat in the match. Nagy has worked with Cook for the last couple of seasons and is impressed by the young student-athlete's play. "I told him last season, you have the talent to be up to the next level," Nagy explained. "Cook will be a massive force for the varsity squad next season.”

Alex Vacca is a junior bowler on the JV one squad who is another stand-out for coach Nagy. “Vacca has great varsity potential for the future,” says Nagy. “Vacca was locked in when he bowled in the league championship.” Vacca totaled 313 pins to help the Alley Cats win the title.

Nagy was impressed with the resiliency from the Wildcat Bowlers. They came into this season not knowing if there would be a season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "It's great to see this program build each season; this year, we had 22 bowlers," says Nagy. "When I came into coach four years ago, there were only about seven bowlers."

The Alley Cats continue to grow their program; there is a lot of young talent surrounding coach Nagy. This JV one and two squads look forward to next season to build off their league championship.
