Raynor follows in the footsteps of Austen Yarian '17.

Henry Raynor of the basketball squad has made his college decision. The 6’7 big man has decided to attend Hillsdale College in Michigan.

Henry truly deserved this offer after an outstanding junior season with the Wildcats.

“Henry is our leader and he is going to be one of our captains,” said Head Coach Cam Joyce. “Obviously, Henry had a tremendous breakout junior season and I expect him to continue that momentum into his senior season.”

Last year, Henry averaged around 15 points per game and a whopping 7 rebounds per game as well. After an outstanding junior year, Henry put in work for his senior year, as well. Henry has been invited to multiple camps and has been working out consistently to improve his game.

Henry has set some goals for his senior year.

“My goals this year, on a personal level, is to be the best possible leader I can be for my teammates and to enjoy every last minute out there on the court representing the blue and gold,” Raynor said. “As a team, our goal is simple: Win a state championship.”

Henry has a lot of faith in the Wildcats this year and wants to make this season special. The Hillsdale Chargers finished last season with an impressive 19-9 record in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The basketball captain said that although his decision was mainly an academic choice, Hillsdale “made me feel like I belonged there.”

Raynor loved the fit between the Chargers’ style of play and his own, in which he could contribute right away.

“They (Hillsdale) have had a lot of talented guys at Henry’s position and I know Henry will continue that,” Coach Cam said.

One of those talented players is fellow big man and Wildcat Austen Yarian ’17. The older brother of CJ Yarian ’22, Austen averaged 11.3 points per game as a starter in 2019-20, scoring in double figures in 16 games, including seven-straight to help the Chargers clinch a share of the G-MAC regular season title. Yarian will be a senior for Hillsdale this season.

Henry credited his future as a Charger to his family, coaches, and teammates who have stuck with him and supported him all along the way. The 2021 commit will be fun to watch this year and an array of big dunks.

Be on the lookout for Raynor and the Cats as this season is coming up soon!
