Owen Maruca helped spark the offense on Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday evening, the JV A Soccer Wildcats took down University School.

The start of the game was dominated by the Wildcats. However, a couple of offsides calls kept them off the scoreboard.

With 16:51 left in the first half, Ashton Daher was fouled just outside the penalty area. On the free kick, he managed to get the ball over the wall of players, and to the top left of the goal. 1-0 Wildcats.

At the half, Coach Darren Keefe ‘87 talked about making good solid passes to teammates’ feet.

The Cats were quick to score starting the second half. A minute in, after a rebound from a corner kick, Ashton Daher turned around and hit the ball with his left foot. The kick seemed to be a routine save for the goalkeeper, however it seemed to slip through his hands. The Wildcats now led, 2-0.

Later, with 28:55 left, the US goalie made a nice save, however, a rebound came back to Xavier Munro, who put it in. 3-0 Wildcats in the lead.

Finally, with 23:20 left in the game, Owen Maruca scored with a header off of Xavier Munro’s corner kick, setting the final score at 4-0 Saint Ignatius.

The Wildcats JV A advance to 6-0 on the season with the victory. They will play again on Tuesday, September 24, away against Walsh Jesuit.
