As the calendar careens towards the end of September, the Saint Ignatius Golf program remains focused on its goal of a state championship.

The journey carried the Wildcats away from Northeast Ohio on Monday, an asynchronous learning day for students, to Dayton for the Bishop Alter Invitational.

In the unfamiliar environs of the Miami Valley Golf Club, the Wildcats put forth a very good effort. The Golf Cats tallied a team score of 297 to win the tournament.

Topher Reed remained red-hot, tying for first place in a solid field. The junior marked down a 71 at day's end, a great score as the leaves begin to fall.

Nick Piesen trailed him closely with a 74. The sophomore is on the right track to peak as the season concludes with postseason play. 

Connor Malicki nipped at Piesen's heels, penciling in a 75. The fellow sophomore has enjoyed a simply extraordinary season. 

And Bradley Chill, Jr. rounded out the team's score with a mark of 77. The talented young freshman will be a key weapon for the Wildcats as the season winds down.

With a pair of regular season tournaments and then postseason play remaining, the Wildcats are within striking distance of the program record for tournament wins. The Golf Cats currently sit at eight wins, only three off from tying the previous best of 11 in 2009.
