Topher Reed led the Wildcats with a 72 on Sunday evening.

You can generally divide golf season in half based on the school year. As Saint Ignatius returns to classes this week, the Golf Cats have competed in seven events, and have five tournaments left on the schedule before the postseason.

Entering the midway point, the Wildcats have slowed down, but not much. The men of PJ Myers '99 didn't set any new records this weekend, but they still managed to win one event and earn third in another.

The Wildcats snagged third at the University School Invitational on Saturday and won the Reece Alexander Invitational on Sunday.

Saturday marked the first time this season the Wildcats didn't win an event, but a third-place score of 288 is still very good. Archbishop Hoban took second at 283 and St. Charles snatched second at 285.

Topher Reed and Sean Hoagland each performed quite well at Windmill Lakes. Each junior marked down a 35 on the front nine and a 36 on the last nine.

Bradley Chill Jr. once again looked like a pro. The freshman penned a 72 for his outstanding afternoon. Connor Malicki, another young talent, flashed his skills for a 74.

Liam Doyle and Nick Piesen turned in identical scorecards in the east side invite, each notching a 38 on the front nine and a 39 on the back nine for totals of 77.

It didn't take long for the Wildcats to get back to their winning ways. Golf Cats tallied a nice score of 294 on a challenging track at Fowler's Mill on Sunday, enough to fell foe Archbishop Hoban by 12 strokes.

Topher Reed showcased his outstanding skills to the tune of a score of 72. The junior marked down a 37 on the front nine before rolling to an outstanding 35 on the back nine. Connor Malicki nearly matched the feat, with a 73 on the day, including a 36 on the back nine.

Sean Hoagland excelled on the course with his calm attitude. The junior marked down a 74 for the afternoon. Bradley Chill Jr. also thrived once again, tallying a 75. Nick Piesen rounded out the Wildcats with a 79.

The Varsity Gold team also partook in the fun on Sunday. Before the rain came, the Wildcats carded a 313 as a team at Gilmour's home invitational.

Nick Longano anchored Coach Tom Beach's team. The veteran experienced little trouble in carding a 76. Fellow senior Andrew Martin also penciled in a very nice score, with a 78.

Julian Dugan continued to show his bright ceiling, clipping a 79. Liam Doyle completed the team score, zipping up an 80. MJ Myers rounded out the squad with an 82.

The Wildcats return to the course on Sunday for the Lion Classic at Quail Hollow, hosted by Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin.
