Zucca earned a spot to the State Meet in the 3200m run.

The Wildcats will have a nice contingent at the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (OATCCC) Indoor State Championship.

The Saint Ignatius track & field squad will be represented in six events, including four field events. The Wildcats qualified for this Saturday's festivities with dynamic performances over the last few weeks.

Here are the qualifiers for the meet at SPIRE Institute in Geneva.

Steve Zucca will be the lone individual runner for the Wildcats on Saturday.  The senior qualified for the 3200m run with a time of 9:42.14. Zucca currently stands in 20th out of 24 qualifiers in the long-distance event. He'll look to hit the next gear with the start of outdoor track & field season looming on March 28. Zucca's race will begin at about 7:40 pm.

The lone Saint Ignatius relay will be the 4x200. Henry Cook, Dominic Devengencie, Jack McCarthy, and Mike Morgan will race for the men of Ohio City. The relay squad, composed of two seniors and two juniors, enter with a seed time of 1:32.37. That time places them 10th amongst the qualifiers. The quartet will run at around 5:50 pm.

All field events are slated to start at 3:15 pm. The Wildcats' coaches will be busy, with four events happening at the same time.

Starting things off, Andrew Eicher will take part in the high jump. The senior enters as the No. 14 guy with a mark of 6-02.00 leading up to the event.

Speaking of jumping, Jack Hutter will don the blue and gold for the long jump. The senior enters with a top jump of 20-11.75, good enough for 16th in a packed field. He'll look to improve his standing this Saturday.

After a historic winter, Dan Drellishak will look to stake a spot on the podium this weekend. The senior star carries in a top leap of 15-00.00, placing him eighth amongst the competition. His coach, Joe Zebrak '87, is expecting Drellishak to accomplish great things this season.

Rounding out the Wildcats' contingent is Tony Georges. The senior multi-sport athlete snuck into the meet with the 24th and final spot in the shot put. Georges enters with a mark of 47-01.75, which he'll look to improve upon with the help of Coaches Ryan Franzinger '02 and Tom Flandera '63.
