Last year, Brian Hoyer '04 became the first Saint Ignatius alumnus to win the Super Bowl as a player.
This year, Collin Meador '05 hopes to get a ring, too. Meador works with the San Francisco 49ers as an Investor in New Ventures.
Not long ago, Meador suited up in the blue and gold. Meador played tight end for the Wildcats under Head Coach Chuck Kyle '69. Meador held a significant role in the offense during the Wildcats' 2004 season, a 10-3 campaign ending in the Regional Final. Meador recorded 10 receptions for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
After graduating from Saint Ignatius, Meador headed to Georgetown University. During his time as a Hoya, Meador thrived as a tight end. As a senior in 2008, Meador notched 21 receptions for 254 yards and three touchdowns.
More important than his football accolades, Meador acquired a bachelor's degree in finance from the prominent Jesuit university.
After Georgetown, Meador worked for Goldman Sachs before joining the 49ers in 2015.
With the 49ers, Meador searches for new investment opportunites geared towards improving the product on the field and the experience in the stadium for fans. That work includes finding and learning about new technology, and working with ownership and groups within the team to make ideas a reality.
According to GUHoyas.com, Meador also played a role in helping to bring a Major League Soccer franchise to Sacramento. Sacramento Republic F.C. will begin play in the MLS in 2022.
In 2017, Forbes named Meador to its "30 Under 30: Sports", which identifies young professionals on and off the field who have done great things and have promise for the future.
His coaches have admired Meador's achievements from afar, and look forward to cheering him and the 49ers on tonight.
"Collin's work ethic was evident as a tight end at Saint Ignatius," said assistant coach Adam Rini '99. "I was proud to see him continue his playing career at my Alma Mater, Georgetown, where he went on to start for the Hoyas. I am so happy to see him succeed in the NFL for the 49ers."
