Bench Powers Wildcats in a Lopsided Win over Collinwood

The Wildcats scored 97 points in the home win.

The Wildcats dominated the Collinwood Railroaders on Tuesday evening in Sullivan Gym.

The Cats earned a win with a score of 97-29.

The bench showed up on Tuesday night, scoring 57 of the Cats' 97 points. It was a well-balanced win for the Wildcats. 

Jon Effertz lead the bench with 12 points. The leading scorer overall for the Cats was Chase Toppin with 14.

As for the other starters, Griffin Hannah had 11, including a pair of 3-pointers. Henry Raynor had 6, Danny Nunez had 7, and CJ Yarian chipped in 9.

At first, the Railroaders took an early 9-7 lead but after that, the Wildcats never looked back. At the end of the second quarter, the score was 51-20.

The Wildcats held the Railroaders to only 9 points in the second half. Meanwhile, Declan Mangan, Micah Anglin, Aidan Hubbard, and Nick Lamirand all scored points late. Mangan, Lamirand and Hubbard all tabbed 6 points apiece.  

A great game all around advanced the Wildcats to 8-5 on the season.

Next up is Cleveland Central Catholic on Saturday, January 18. JV is at 5:30 pm, varsity is at 7 pm.
