Steve Zucca enjoyed a great senior season, in the classroom and on the course.

Another good season was rewarded with recognition for the Saint Ignatius cross country program.

Steve Zucca led the way, as he did all season, earning All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio status. Five other Wildcats join him on the Academic All-Ohio list: Jack Mayer, Nick Mulhern, Aidan Monroe, Matt Kelly, and Sean Uhran. The Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (OATCCC) announced the list.

In November, the Wildcats finished 9th at the State Meet. Zucca topped the team, finishing 11th overall with a stellar time of 15:43. Zucca completed a great senior campaign in style, entering track season with plenty to be proud of.

His teammates also did well at the State Meet, with several tabbing personal records. But even more importantly, they did well in the classroom.

All six Wildcats named above tallied a 4.0 GPA or better. Mayer, Mulhern, Monroe, Kelly, Uhran, and Zucca all excelled in the classroom this semester, as they have throughout their entire Saint Ignatius careers.

In addition, Mulhern was named a National Merit Semifinalist for his outstanding score on the PSAT. He joined an elite group of some of the smartest young people from across the country.

Mayer, Mulhern, and Zucca are all graduating in the spring, but hope for future continues to burn bright. Monroe, Kelly and Uhran will all be back in 2020. With these smart young men in the program, Wildcats fans have plenty of reason to be optimistic for the future.

Congrats, men!
