Trickett enjoyed an exceptional season for Kent State.

The MAC has learned what Saint Ignatius football fans knew long ago – Matt Trickett '18 has one helluva leg.

On Wednesday, the Mid-American Conference (MAC) recognized Trickett as the Special Teams Player of the Year.

Trickett has done nothing but kick bombs since his sophomore season at Saint Ignatius. His 2019 campaign at Kent State University was a continuation of the trend for the Clevelander.

In his sophomore season, Trickett has knocked home 24-of-29 field goals, including 9-of-10 from 40-49 yards. Two of his misses came from beyond 50 yards. Trickett is one of just five players in the FBS to convert 24 field goals this season.

Twice this season, Trickett made 4-of-4 field goals. In two games (vs. Kennesaw State and Buffalo), Trickett drilled walk-off game-winning field goals. And that's not counting a game-winner vs. Ball State with under 20 seconds left.

Also the kickoffs man, Trickett tallied 28 touchbacks on 66 kickoffs. You might have seen him on SportsCenter, too, after he recovered his own onsides kick vs. Buffalo.

Along with his Special Teams Player of the Year award, Trickett also walks away with First-Team honors for the second straight season.

And the best part? The Golden Flashes may not be done yet. At 6-6, Kent State is bowl eligible for the first time since 2012. Here's hoping that Trickett gets to keep kicking it in a bowl game.

Congrats, Matt!
