As September comes to a close, so ends the JV golf season for the Wildcats.

It was a memorable season, showcasing the incredibly bright future for the Wildcats.

Competing in almost exclusively varsity events, the JV Gold squad more than held its own, often beating a majority of varsity teams at events. Meanwhile, the JV Blue team won every dual match, save for a rain-shortened 6-hole contest vs. Walsh Jesuit by one stroke.

Wildcats faithful have plenty of reason to be proud of these fine young men.

JV Gold shoots a 320 in Dublin

Originally scheduled to take part in a JV Tournament to end the year, the Wildcats opted to send the JV Gold squad to the Jerome Honorary Shotgun in the varsity team's place. The scheduling change allowed the six varsity guys to get a practice round in at Quail Hollow with Head Coach PJ Myers '99, in anticipation of the Sectional Tournament on Tuesday at the same course.

So, Coach Tom Beach led his Gold Cats on a trek to Columbus. Amidst all varsity teams, the Wildcats did quite well.

As a team, the Wildcats tabulated a score 320. That's a nice score for the Wildcats' top JV squad. The final tally placed the Wildcats at 15th out of 20 teams, mostly hailing from Columbus and Cincinnati.

Braden Hilditch and Liam Doyle led the way for the Wildcats. The freshman-junior duo tallied identical scores of 78 to top the team. MJ Myers finished off a nice sophomore campaign with a marker of 81. Connor Malicki and Andrew Martin wrapped up good years by penciling in 83's at Murfield CC.

A job well-done by Beach's boys this season. The Wildcats have plenty to look forward to next year.

JV Blue earns two wins in final week

In the last week of the season, the JV Blue squad gave a glimpse into the future of the program with two strong wins.

The Wildcats rolled past St. Edward on Wednesday and repeated the feat in a tri-match with the Eagles and Walsh Jesuit Warriors on Saturday.

The men of Tom Bogen carded a team score of 166 on Wednesday. Connor Keefe and John Thompson headed the effort at Red Tail. The two young Cats carded scores of 39 for the men of Ohio City.

The Wildcats finished out the year on a high note with another strong output on Saturday. Playing 18 holes, the Wildcats turned in a final score of 316 at Seneca Hills Golf Course. That's a tally many varsity teams would be jealous of.

Keefe again anchored the Cats in impressive fashion. The sophomore played an outstanding round, beating all comers with a 78. The medalist trophy ends an outstanding campaign for the youngster.

In a battle for second, the Eagles narrowly edged the Warriors. St. Edward tabbed a tally of 363, while Walsh Jesuit managed a 366.

Once again, congrats to Bogen and his young men on a great season. Good times are ahead for the Wildcats.

Varsity prepared for Sectionals

It's all come down to this. The postseason is here.

The Wildcats will begin a hopefully long and successful journey on Tuesday. Andrew Kaye, Ross Williamson, Connor Warns, Nick Longano, Topher Reed, and Nick Piesen will be the six golfers repping the Wildcats heading in postseason play at the Sectional Tournament at Quail Hollow.

We'll be sending out updates via Twitter as they become available.
