Runners and Parents,

"Bid me run, and I will strive with things impossible!"  (William Shakespeare)   Although I doubt if the Bard was much of a runner,  I felt this quote was spot on for some the huge PR performances at the meet.  I will only include a few of them here.

John Pawlikowski: 21:25 to 17:43

Sean Uhran: 18:40 to 17:14

Joe Maloney : 18:54 to 17:18

Matt Kelly: 18:16 to 17:19

Mike Mayer: 19:37 to 17:52

Terry McCafferty: 22:02 to 21:04

Now back to the meet.  The weather was surprisingly cool for the Glen Oak Invite.  While we dodged the heat index, the team did not fare as well against the competition.  In the varsity race the A squad finished 4th.  They were led by Jack Mayer, Sean Uhran, Connor McAndrew, Peter Fitzpatrick, and John Pawlikowski. The B team was 7th, led by Joe Maloney and the C team in 13th, led by Danny Becker.

The sun was high by the time the JV/ open race got underway.  A huge field of over 300 runners crowded together on the line.  This would be a full contact start!  The cats got out safely but slipped back by the 2 mile.  The Kilbane brothers (ok they're not really brothers) Tom and Will 18:22 and 18:24, led the team to a fifth place finish. They were followed by Caleb DelaCruz, Tyler Cupar, Luke Ali and Dominic Wilson.

Letter winners: Jack Mayer, Sean Uhran, Joe Maloney, Matt Kelly, Connor McAndrew, Peter Fitzpatrick, Luke Chesney, John Pawlikowski, Robby Klanac, Mike Mayer, Elliott Rodstrom, Alex Paliga, Conor Geary.  Congratulations!!

There were a few mix ups with scoring and missed runners.  Our ace statistician, Coach Stefancin is working on correcting any problems.  Contact him with any questions.

Special thanks to our guest speaker on Friday.  Sarah Horbol, CVS marathon champ and Olympic Trials Qualifier gave the team some great tips only an elite runner can provide. Her maxim, "Always be positive!" Great advice.

Thanks to Dave "Flash" Wilson for the photo coverage!!
