As the school year begins, the Wildcats' JV Golf teams are not losing any steam.

The JV Gold and JV Blue squads enjoyed a successful "friendly" match on Wednesday at Avon Oaks before each conquering opponents on Thursday.

The success is only part of a great start to the season for both teams.

The Wildcats' week began on Wednesday with an inter-squad match between JV Gold and JV Blue, or to borrow a soccer team, a "friendly." Connor Warns, MJ Myers, Liam Doyle, Braden Hilditch, JR Leedy, and Andrew Martin repped JV Gold. Michael O'Leary, Domenic Pilla, Michael Van Etten, Connor Keefe, and Ethan Hughes took the JV Blue side.

At the end of a fun day of golf, the JV Gold Cats bested the Blue boys, 155-162.

Warns led all comers with a cool one over par of 37. Myers and Doyle both trailed the veteran closely, tabbing scores of 39. Hilditch also experienced a nice day, carding a 40. JR Leedy followed behind with a 41, while Martin rounded out the bunch with a 43.

O'Leary guided Coach Tom Bogen's team with a wonderful mark of 37. Pilla also broke 40, with a tally of 38. Hughes inked a 42 at the end of the day. Van Etten and Keefe completed the squad with scores of 45 and 46.

The teams played separately on Thursday, facing different foes. Both enjoyed success.

Tom Beach's boys headed to Sleepy Hollow to do battle with University School. The JV Gold team emerged unscathed with a 165-173 triumph.

Myers steered the ship with a top score of 40. Hilditch just missed out on being the low man, finishing with a 41. Martin and Leedy each clipped scores of 42. Doyle completed the team with a 44. The Wildcats tallied solid scores despite dealing with difficult greens, which were significantly slowed by heavy morning rain.

Bogen's men experienced similarly tough conditions at Stonewater in a contest against University School. The JV Blue Cats battled through for a 176-193 triumph in the dual match.

Van Etten topped the team with a 41. O'Leary trailed him closely with a 42. Pilla cut through for a mark of 44. Hughes and Keefe notched scores of 49 and 50, respectively.

The JV Gold Cats have a busy weekend ahead, with the US Invitational on Saturday at Windmill Lakes and the Reece Alexander Invite at Fowlers Mill on Sunday. The JV Blue Cats are off from competition this weekend, rematching with the Preppers on Wednesday at Avon Oaks.
