The season has already begun, but the Wildcats have a couple more preseason honors to accept.

Kyle Folds and Matthew McLaughlin have been named to the ALL-USA Preseason Boys Soccer Team.

The two seniors were among the 24 high school players chosen as the best in the country. The players were chosen by USA TODAY and Sheldon Shealer from TopDrawerSoccer.com. Factors included past performance, level of competition and strength of schedule. The full listing of players is available here

Both McLaughlin and Folds enjoyed special junior seasons, leading to selection to play in the Allstate All-America Cup earlier this August. The two Wildcats, along with Peter Van Euwen, played quite well on the national stage.

Entering this season, much is expected of McLaughlin and Folds. The two midfielders will be leaders as team captains, as well as playmakers on offense and defense. Each has special talent and character.

Folds and McLaughlin played well in the season opener on Friday, a 2-1 win for the Wildcats over Avon Lake. Each had opportunities to score, narrowly missing on tough bounces.

The Soccer Cats will return to action on Tuesday, heading east to Twinsburg to play the Tigers.
