The long line of Saint Ignatius faceoff men to graduate on to Division I lacrosse continues.

Joey Morford has committed to play lacrosse for the Saint Joseph's University Hawks.

Morford follows in the footsteps of several special FOGOs, including Anthony Ameo '18 and Anthony Kelly '99. Morford filled the shoes of Ameo admirably in his junior season, showcasing his special skills at the X.

Morford enjoyed a stellar junior campaign as the team's primary faceoff man. He won 56% of all of his draws this season, a nice percentage. Just as impressive, Morford upped his game against in-state foes, earning a 60% faceoff percentage vs. Ohio opponents.

Morford's physicality and scrappiness also came up in the clutch for the Wildcats. He evolved into a vacuum over the course of the season, gobbling up 62 ground balls. Morford even found twine once and tallied an assist.

Entering his senior season, Morford will again be a key cog of the Saint Ignatius lacrosse machine.

Just as important as his on-field skill, Morford also displays leadership qualities. The Hawks are getting a great one.

"Congrats to Joey on his commitment to play a St. Joe's," said Wildcats' head coach Mason Wynocker '91. "It will be great to see another Wildcat FOGO move on to play at the next level. Joey has been working hard this summer against strong competition, so Wildcats fans should expect him to have a great senior season."
