Three rising seniors from the Saint Ignatius lacrosse program will be Baltimore-bound next weekend.

Michael Boehm, Connor Cmiel, and Joey Morford will be playing in the 2019 Under Armour All American Lacrosse Classic® Underclass Tournament next weekend.

The event is one of the most prestigious lacrosse tournaments in the country. The Underclass Tournament, featuring some of the best rising young talent in North America, is run in conjunction with the Under Armour Senior games. One might compare the Under Armour Senior games to the McDonald’s All American basketball game, in terms of prestige.

Boehm, Cmiel, and Morford made the Midwest Team in the underclass tournament, which is split into rising seniors/juniors and rising sophomores/freshman. To be selected for the team is a huge honor.

Then again, it's far for the first honor for these talented young men. Boehm and Cmiel each earned All-American recognition for excellent junior seasons, along with first-team All-State and All-Region honors. Morford also garnered first-team All Region status, adding third-team All-State onto his resume.

The stats for all three are eye-popping. Boehm compiled 71 goals and 47 assists for a grand total of 118 points, all three new single-season program records. The excellent attacker owns the career records for goals (181), assists (119), and points (300). Meanwhile, Cmiel trailed him closely on offense, all while performing well on defense, notching 45 goals and 23 assists for 68 points. The midfielder also did quite well in clearing and defense. Morford morphed into a great faceoff specialist, winning 56% of his faceoffs, including 60% against in-state foes. Morford also added a goal and an assist, along with 62 ground balls.

This year marks the third appearance for Boehm in the 12-team underclass tournament. Cmiel also played in the game following his sophomore season in 2017. Morford will be playing in the tournament for the first time in his career.

All three Wildcats will play in the tournament next weekend in Towson, Maryland. Saint Ignatius is the only Ohio school with three representatives at the tourney.

Best of luck to Boehm, Cmiel, and Morford. We'll be rooting for you next weekend!
