Michael Boehm was honored as the MSLCA Player of the Year.

The Saint Ignatius lacrosse program is well-represented in the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association teams and awards.

The MSLCA has announced its All-Midwest teams, and Wildcats dot the list. In all, nine members of the Lax Cats made the cut.

Leading the way is Michael Boehm. The junior attack enjoyed another amazing season, continuing his quest to claim every offensive record in school history. The MSLCA recognized Boehm for his excellent year by crowning him as the Player of the Year. Boehm completed the regular season with 47 goals and 32 assists for a total of 79 points. An absolute vacuum, Boehm tallied 53 ground balls, second only to John Coughlin.

Boehm also made his way onto MSLCA's first-team. John Coughlin and Connor Cmiel joined him there.

Coughlin tops the team in ground balls with 84 as a long stick middie. A strong and fearsome LSM, Coughlin has broken onto the scene this season, enjoying a breakout year on the field. He's been invaluable in helping to win faceoffs and in strengthening the defense, forcing 25 turnovers.

Cmiel has been simply outstanding as a midfielder. His offensive skills have improved greatly, as Cmiel has showcased equal ability to shoot with his left and right hands. Cmiel is very difficult to stop, especially in transition with his lightning speed. The junior stands second on the team with 51 points, tallying 36 goals and 15 assists in a memorable regular season.

Charlie Minerd, Jack Welcsh, and Joey Morford rep the Wildcats on the second team.

Minerd has been fantastic in net this season for the Wildcats. Occupying the net as the starter all season, Minerd has been a big part of the team's success. Minerd has notched 133 saves on the season and a 50.4 save percentage, including 59.6% against in-state foes. He'll be a key cog of the machine down the stretch.

Welcsh has evolved into a lockdown defender this season. The multi-sport athlete has done incredible things with the long pole, leading the team in caused turnovers with 27. Welcsh has a knack for finding the action and shutting the down the team's top defender. His 38 ground balls are also evidence of his will to get loose balls.

Following the graduation of Anthony Ameo, one of the best faceoff specialists in school history, Morford has filled the big shoes with grace. The junior has showcased quickness at X, as evidenced by his 55.7% rate on faceoffs. In-state opponents have lost 61.9% of faceoffs to the skilled FOGO. Morford's 41 ground balls also show that he's not afraid to get dirty and scoop the ball out of scraps.

Three talented Wildcats rounded out the team's representation with slots at honorable mention.

Nate Conry leads the pack with his outstanding job at attack/middie. Conry has played different roles this season, sometimes taking the role of the bellcow and lead of the offense, and other times serving as a decoy or a distributor. Whatever his job, Conry has done it with quiet humility and flawless efficiency. Conry ended the regular season with 19 goals and 15 assists for 34 points. Tron also added 39 ground balls, a great show of his well-rounded game.

Jack Moriarity is another flexible player who's done marvelous things. Asked to play behind the net at the X and GLE, Mort has played quarterback for the offense on many occasions. His stats show his reliability, with 28 goals and 13 assists. Like Conry, Mort will be a key cog in the playoffs and will be bound for the next level in the fall.

A bright young star who continued to shine this year is Merick Hartley. The fast and skilled middie has ripped 37 goals and tabbed 4 assists in a great season. Good luck stopping Hartley from the office, or the low wing. His low-to-high shot is a thing of beauty that few goalies can stop. Hartley still has one more year, and will continue to instill fear in opposing defenders.

To have nine players on the MSLCA team is special – not many times will a team have this type of representation. But then again, this Saint Ignatius lacrosse team is a rare one, indeed.
