Last Wednesday, the Wildcats ventured to Medina to play last years Division II State Champs – the Highland Buzzards. The JV Cats kicked things off with a very good back and forth 15 minutes but eventually the Wildcats broke free and were able to be up at halftime.

The Wildcats eventually pulled away for the victory.

Then, the Varsity A Cats took the pitch and started off quick with multiple tries in the first 20 minutes of play. Highland would eventually answer back with a try of their own to end the first half. The Buzzards would slow down the Wildcats for a few minutes but the Saint Ignatius machine would get back to work, scoring multiple tries to advance the score even further in favor of  the Wildcats.

Declan Boldy ‘19 had multiple kicks that found touch and pushed the Wildcats further into the Buzzards’ half of the field. In addition to Boldy’s kicking, Seamus McCarthy ‘19 and the rest of the pack made their presence known by clearing rucks with force and by stealing opposing scum and lineouts. When the final whistle blew the Rugby Cats emerged victorious over the Highland Buzzards, 59-19.

The Wildcats take on Cathedral this Saturday down at Ohio State.
