Bielek finds Toppin on a pass in a big win over Benedictine.

Two key guards on the Saint Ignatius basketball team have drawn recognition for an excellent season.

Two Wildcats made the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association Northeast Lakes All-District Basketball team. Lukas Bielek made the second-team, while Chase Toppin earned honorable mention honors.

Bielek has developed into an excellent playmaker, driving to the hoop and shooting 3's with precision as a 2-guard. Toppin has excelled in all aspects of the game at point guard, providing wonderful passes and clutch plays when needed. Wildcats fans have caused countless jaws to drop this season, wowing the Saint Ignatius faithful with amazing plays on both ends of the court.

"It's a great accomplishment for both Lukas and Chase to be named to the All-District teams," said Head Coach Brian Becker '77. "They've worked really hard. Hard work and dedication pays off. They've been our catalysts all year long, let's hope they continue to be our catalysts."

Bielek and Toppin will lead the way for the 15-7 Wildcats this postseason. Each will play a critical role down the stretch for the men of Ohio City.

The Basketball Cats begin the postseason on Saturday. The Wildcats will host the Rhodes Rams in the Sectional Final in Sullivan Gym, with tipoff set for 7 pm. Should the hosts win, they would move on to the District Semifinal on Thursday at 7 pm. Both the District Semifinal and Final will be held at Lakewood High School's new gym at the corner of Bunts and Franklin Roads.
