Huff pinned his opponents to the mat twice on Saturday.

A bright young man and hard-working wrestler is this week's Student-Athlete of the Week.

DJ Huff, a captain of the Saint Ignatius wrestling squad, is this week's honoree.

The junior helped the Wildcats secure victories over Madison and Strongsville at Sullivan Gym on Saturday evening. In the process, Huff showed off some impressive skills.

Huff pinned both his Blue Streak and Mustang foes during Saturday's action. Huff, wrestling at 126 pounds, bested his Madison opponent in 42 seconds and his Strongsville adversary in 78 seconds.

The victories came days after Huff was named a team captain by his teammates. Huff fought through injuries last year, but worked harder than almost anyone in the offseason. The extra time has paid off, as Huff looks stronger and tougher than ever before.

On the season, Huff has a 7-3 overall record. The junior has 4 pins, and has recorded 36.5 team points for the blue and gold, including 12 for Saturday's wins.

Off the mat, Huff is an impressive young man, too. DJ is an exceptional student, entering the fall with a 4.11 cumulative GPA. Huff volunteers with the Christian Action Team and serves as a peer tutor. Huff is also a member of Model United Nations and Student Senate.

DJ and the Wildcats return to the mat tomorrow to face St. Edward in Lakewood.

Congrats to DJ on this honor, and good luck on Thursday!
