The Saint Ignatius wrestling team has chosen its leaders.

The Mat Cats voted on their three captains for the 2017-18 season, and chose three exceptional young men – DJ Huff, Patrick McGraw, and Logan Toth.

The trio worked hard in the offseason, and these three wrestlers have distinguished themselves so far this season.

Huff returns to the team for his junior season, poised for a break-through campaign. The 132-pound wrestler was a regular at open mats over the summer and trained individually frequently at Edgewater Park and elsewhere around Cleveland. Huff competed at the prestigious Ironman Tournament last weekend and notched third place at the Solon Comet Classic the previous weekend.

McGraw is also a junior and a hard worker for the Mat Cats. McGraw bulked up in the offseason to 138 pounds and performed well in the last two meets. McGraw took fourth at Solon before rolling through the Riverside Rumble undefeated to take the crown in his weight class.

Toth is the elder statesmen of the captains as a senior. He is also the heaviest, at 170 pounds for the Mat Cats. Toth has started out the season solidly, participating in both tournaments thus far and picking up a number of wins.

Huff, McGraw, and Toth are the perfect men to lead a strong 2017-18 Saint Ignatius wrestling squad.

"Coach Sullivan and I are not surprised that these three guys were selected as captains," said Associate Head Coach Jon Polick. "DJ and Patrick were captains last year and they've consistently done a great job of leading by example and doing things the right way; whether it be extra work, how they practice and prepare, or how they carry themselves.

"Logan was selected for the first time this year, and it was a product of his consistent hard work in the off-season and desire to improve. I think his teammates saw that and his selection is a direct result."

With these three men at the forefront, the Mat Cats are in good shape to face a challenging schedule in the season ahead.
