The Aqua Cats' premier diver will continue his education at South Carolina.

The Saint Ignatius swimming and diving team will be sending one of its most talented divers to a prominent Division I school in 2018.

Alex Claus, the Wildcats' diving phenom, has committed to continue his education and athletic career at the University of South Carolina.

Claus, who has been competitively diving for nine years, has made a large impact for the Wildcats.

The senior holds the school records for the 6 dive and the 11 dive. As just a freshman, Claus took seventh in the state meet, and has finished sixth in his last two seasons. Claus has also excelled at the National Catholic Championships the last two seasons, emerging as the champion in 2016.

Most recently, Claus started off the season with a bang at the 43rd annual Viking Swimming & Diving Meet, claiming the gold in the 1-meter dive.

Even prior to high school, Claus was racking up awards. Claus was crowned as the 2011 USA Diving East National Champion and a Three-time AAU National Champion in 2013.

Congratulations to Alex – we wish him the best of luck the rest of the season with the Aqua Cats and in future seasons at South Carolina!
