The full court press that Saint Ignatius JV basketball coach Coach Chris Salata '94 orchestrates from the bench continues to cause panic for opposing teams.

Last night, it was Cornerstone Christian’s turn to face the dominant JV Cat press. The full court press caused an early 8-point lead 4 minutes into the game and by the end of the first quarter, the lead was up to 12.

Nunez knocked down two quick 3-pointers in the second quarter and led the team with 10 points at halftime. Nunez would finish with a team-high 13 points.

Junior Darius Moss, who was not able to play at the JV level last year due to injury, collected 7 rebounds in the first half. The Wildcats took a 34 to 16 lead. The tremendous press and solid defense led to 9 steals in the first half while only turning the ball over 3 times.

Once again, the scoring was spread throughout the team, with all players putting up points. The Wildcats had a team total 19 assists in their third dominant performance of the young season. The pressure continued in the second half as the Cats pulled away to a 79-40 victory over Cornerstone Christian to go to 3-0 on the season.

The JV Cats will be back in action tomorrow night at Cleveland Heights High School. JV tip-off will be at 6 followed by varsity at 7:30 pm.
