Ohio City - Coach Brian Becker's 2-0 Wildcats, who begin a three games in five nights stretch with Tuesday night's home game versus Cornerstone Christian, held the same ranking they were given in preseason.

Garfield Heights (3-0), St. Edward (3-0) and Solon (3-0) remained 1-2--3, respectively, St. Vincent-St. Mary (2-1) is ranked fourth this week and the Shaker Heights Raiders (2-0) grabbed the fifth spot.

Rounding out the area's other top 12  teams are No. 6 Benedictine (1-1), No. 7 Archbishop Hoban (1-0), No. 8 Stow (1-0), No. 9 a still underrated Cleveland Heights (3-0), No. 10 Cleveland Central Catholic (1-0) and No. 11 Mentor (2-0).

After Tuesday night's matchup with Cornerstone Christian in Fr. Sullivan Gym, the Wildcats travel to Cleveland Heights' beautiful new gymnasium on Thursday night and on Saturday night Coach Becker and his 'Cats are bound for Inwood Road in Solon to face the soaring Comets, who have scored more than 90 points (98, 93, 95) in each of their three victories - versus Beachwood, Twinsburg and Elyria.

The Wildcats played on the new floor at Cleveland Heights in their season-opening triumph over John Hay, a game that was part of the highly competitive Great Lakes Classic.

The Comets of Solon are coached by former Wildcat Tony DeCesare, who while playing for Coach Becker set the Saint Ignatius single-game assist record with 15 in the winter of 1999. Robby Parris would tie Tony's record in 2006.

For a preview on the Patriots from Cornerstone Christian, see the corner's story that was posted this morning. This old gym rat will be previewing Cleveland Heights and Solon on Wednesday.

Here's hoping Mother Nature doesn't play havoc with this week's athletic events.
