Coming off an impressive season opener vs. Massillon Washington here at Sullivan Gym, where they defeated Massillon 64-28, the JV Cats looked to stay hot against Lutheran East.

That is just what the Wildcats did, defeating the Falcons in convincing fashion 73-44.

Applying constant full court pressure in the first half, the Wildcats out to an early lead 13-8 at the end of the first and then a controlling 15-point lead at half.

Full-court pressure continued in the second half and the Falcons were never able to get themselves back into it. At the end of the third, the Cats were up by 18 and then outscored the Falcons 23-12 in the fourth quarter to finish the game up by 19 points.

An all around scoring effort from the Wildcats was the key to victory. All but one player scored points in last night's victory, led by Connor Cmiel with 12 points.

Sophomores Jack Whalen and Griffin Hanna had limited playing time in the second half, as both would be pulled up for the varsity contest later that evening to lengthen the bench for Coach Becker with Jon Barnes, Josh Ozanne and Chase Toppin all inactive.

Even with his limited playing time, Hanna was still able to put up eight points for the JV Cats. Both Hanna and Whalen both saw some playing time for Coach Becker.

Scoring, assists and rebounds were spread throughout the roster in an all around team effort victory. JV will be back in action Tuesday night against a very solid Cornerstone Christian Academy program. Tip is set for 5:30 in Father Sullivan Gym.
