The scout team has helped plenty the last three weeks.

Ohio City -  From the start of Saint Ignatius' remarkable State Championship run in 1988 to the current road to success that continues Friday at 7:30 PM in an OHSAA Division I, Region 1 title matchup with the Mentor Cardinals at Bedford's Bearcat Stadium, the Wildcats' Scout Teams have played a huge role in fueling that drive to OHSAA gold.

Thanks to the efforts of Saint Ignatius' outstanding Assistant Coaching Staff, this corner has had the privilege throughout the summer and fall to acknowledge those players whose roles on the Scout Team have been so vital to what is currently a 28th appearance in the OHSAA's football postseason.

As Saint Ignatius continues its pursuit on Friday night for what would be a 16th trip to next week's OHSAA Division I State Semifinals, it is this old gridiron grinder's privilege and pleasure to acknowledge the strong and selfless dedication of senior tight end/receiver Alex Schum and sophomore offensive linemen Antoine "Tony" Georges and Nick Schwitzgebel.

Alex Schum was Saint Ignatius' Scout Team Player of the Week for both the regular season finale victory over St. Edward and the Regional Quarterfinal triumph versus Massillon Perry.

Tony Georges and Nick Schwitzgebel, who showed the way up front for Coach Paul Yappel's 8-1 Junior Varsity Team this fall, garnered Scout Team Players of the Week for last weekend's impressive victory over Euclid in the Regional Semifinals, a performance that saw Coach Adam Rini's and Coach Yappel's offensive line take control of the game.

Gentlemen, Thank You for your tireless dedication to your team and your teammates, efforts that exemplify being true "Men for Others."
