OL/DL Darian Kinnard Chosen to Play in U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Wildcats standout senior offensive tackle Darian Kinnard has been selected to play in the tradition-rich U.S. Army All-American Bowl

  Ohio City - Darian, a University of Kentucky recruit who on Tuesday evening was selected to the first team on the annual Division I All-Northeast Lakes District Teams, will be playing for the East squad in the 18th anniversary of The U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

 The U.S. Army All-American Bowl Presented by American Family Insurance is the nation's premier postseason all-star football game. It is scheduled for January 6, 2018 in San Antonio's Alamodome. The kickoff is slated for 12 PM CT and the game will be televised live nationally on NBC and live across the world to Soldiers deployed overseas in the U.S. Army.

 Saint Ignatius' Hall of Fame Head Football Coach Mr. Chuck Kyle '69, the 2017 Division I All-Northeast Lakes District Coach of the Year, made the announcement on Darian's U.S. Army All-American Bowl selection after Wednesday's practice on Wasmer Field.

 Darian (6-foot-7, 330 pounds) will be honored and recognized for this prestigious selection in the Sullivan Atrium on the campus of Saint Ignatius after Thursday's final preparation for Fridaynight's OHSAA Division I, Region 1 Semifinal Playoff Game versus the Euclid Panthers. Friday's kickoff is 7:30 PM on Stewart Field in Bedford High School's Bearcat Stadium.

 The U.S. Army All-American Bowl features the top 100 High School All-Americans in a classic East-West matchup. Last year's All-American Bowl was watched on NBC by more than 5 million viewers.

 An unparalleled history accompanies the U.S. Army All-American Bowl highlighted by Heisman Trophy winners and NFL MVPs. A total of 351 U.S. Army All-Americans have been selected in the NFL Draft. The Bowl has consistently featured the nation’s most elite football players, providing a launching pad for college and NFL stars: Andrew Luck (2008)Odell Beckham Jr. (2011), Adrian Peterson (2004), Patrick Peterson (2008), Eric Berry (2007)Tim Tebow (2006)Sam Darnold (2015)Christian McCaffrey (2014), and hundreds more. Andrew Luck is the son of Saint Ignatius Hall of Fame multi-sport athlete and John J. Wirtz Award Winner Oliver Luck '78.
