The friendly confines of Wasmer Field proved to be just what the Saint Ignatius JV A soccer squad needed to get back on track.

The JV Soccer Cats earned a 3-0 victory over the visiting Aurora Greenmen on Tuesday evening in Ohio City.

The Wildcats advanced to 11-2-1 on the season with the victory, following a narrow road loss to Dublin Coffman on Saturday. With just two games left, the Wildcats wanted to start strong on Tuesday, and did just that.

Gavan Richards began the scoring for the Wildcats at the 8-minute mark. The sophomore headed the ball into the net off a shot by Ben Stepnowski on a wonderful goal.

Alex Pauer kept the good times rolling with a tally just 90 seconds later. The junior's goal was a beauty, and granted the Wildcats some insurance and ease of mind.

The score remained 2-0 at the end of the first half, until Ryan Brandt scored five minutes into the second stanza. The junior midfielder slotted the ball into the net on the low right side with a perfectly aimed shot.

The Greenmen threatened to score as the second half evolved, as did the Wildcats. The keepers from both teams played a phenomenal contest. Danny Radigan, the Wildcats' stopper, turned away a promising Aurora penalty kick in the first half, keeping the visitors off the board.

Following the 3-goal victory, the Wildcats will conclude their 2017 campaign on Saturday. The JV A Cats will host Erie Prep on Wasmer Field at 5 p.m.
