The Volleyball Cats, still on top of the world after winning the 2017 Ohio High School Boys Volleyball (OHSBVA) Championship, will send three to Florida this week.

Junior Philip Catanzaro, sophomore Quinn Flanagan, and incoming freshman Andrew Boeckman will participate in the 2017 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from July 18 through July 22.

The trio of Volleyball Cats will be playing for the Ohio Valley region team. The squad will face off against some of the best competition from across the country and the world. Teams from China, New Zealand, and Venezuela will be among the competitors. 

USA Volleyball is structured into three layers – National (college players), Junior Nationals (high school players), and Select (14u). This tournament falls into the Jr. National category. 

Held at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center, the tournament will begin with opening ceremonies on July 18 and conclude with the finals on July 22. More information can be found at the tournament's official site. 

The tournament promises to be a great chance for the trio of Volleyball Cats to hone their skills and play against the best of the best.

Catanzaro enjoyed a breakout campaign as a sophomore. The outside hitter notched 243 kills, 56 aces (87.9 serve %), 245 digs, and 18 blocks. Flanagan impressed as a freshman to earn a spot on the varsity roster. The opposite notched 149 kills, 34 aces, 106 digs, and 38 blocks. Boeckman comes to Saint Ignatius from St. Joe's in Avon Lake. 

"I wish the best of luck to our Saint Ignatius players at the tournament," said Head Volleyball Coach Casey Marcelo. "We're proud that three of our players will be representing Saint Ignatius and Ohio. We're looking forward to a good performance from them."
