Support the Lax Cats this weekend!

The Saint Ignatius lacrosse team is in the OHSAA Division I State Tournament Championship, and needs your support.

The Wildcats will face the Archbishop Moeller Crusaders on Saturday at Selby Stadium at Ohio Wesleyan University at 7 p.m. The Lax Cats will be competing for their first-ever state championship.

But first, the Wildcats are inviting lacrosse alumni and friends to practice tonight at Wasmer Field, much like football's frequent tradition of practice on Thanksgiving Day.

Here's the full message from Head Coach Garen Distelhorst '96:

Saint Ignatius Lacrosse Community,

As many of you know, the Wildcat varsity lacrosse team is headed to Columbus on Saturday to play Archbishop Moeller for the first ever OHSAA sanctioned lacrosse state championship (7pm at Ohio Wesleyan University)!

We invite everyone in the area (parents + family, former players, coaches, etc!) to join us on Friday at 6PM on Wasmer Field to show your support for this year’s team before they leave for Columbus. You will be able to catch the end of our final practice of the year at 6, and then gather with the team for a prayer and some final words from the coaches and other members of our school/community around 6:15-6:30PM.

For those of you outside of Cleveland, please feel free to post a message of good luck or a memory from your time in our program on our Facebook page. I can assure you the players will see them. We know we are playing and representing each and every one of you who have worn the blue and gold proudly.

The boys have put together a remarkable run over the past few weeks and we want to make this a truly special show of support for the players before they have the chance to bring home the school’s first lacrosse state title on Saturday. Please spread the word to all those we may have missed, and we hope to see as many of you as possible tomorrow!

Thank you and GO CATS!!!
