Dwyer will return in a part-time role, covering the Football Cats in the fall.

Following a period of time off, beloved Saint Ignatius sportswriter Eddie Dwyer is coming back to Wildcat High.

After taking time off after football season due to some health issues, Dwyer is returning to cover the Wildcats again.

The veteran sportswriter will be returning on a part-time basis, focusing his efforts on writing about the Football Cats again, starting with summer mini-camp. Dwyer will also occasionally cover other Saint Ignatius games on an as-needed basis, providing an example for the students of the Student Sports Information Department, who will continue coverage of other Wildcats' sports.

"We are so excited to have Eddie back here at Saint Ignatius," said Athletic Director Rory Fitzpatrick '88. "We're happy that Eddie is feeling healthy and rested and that he is again able to cover the Wildcats. We all appreciate the care he takes to tell the story of each and every game and how he truly highlights the young men that are involved.  We are blessed to have him writing again."

Dwyer covered the Wildcats from 2008-2016 on Eddie Dwyer's Corner, writing about thousands of Wildcats games and hundreds of Saint Ignatius student-athletes in his semi-retirement. Dwyer also wrote for the Saint Ignatius Magazine and the school’s newspaper, The Eye.

Previously, Dwyer covered high school sports for several decades for The Plain Dealer. Along the way, Dwyer received a host of well-deserved awards, including induction into the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Hall of Fame in 2000; the Golden Deeds Award from Greater Cleveland’s three major coaching associations - baseball, basketball and football; and the highly regarded Northeastern Ohio Chapter, National Football Foundation Ohio Sportswriter of the Year for 2012-2013.

Welcome back, Eddie!
