A record fell and a meet was won this weekend.

The man behind the success, Phil Zuccaro, is the Student-Athlete of the Week.

Zuccaro guided the Wildcats to a District Championship last week at Amherst Steele High School. The junior won two individual events, set a school record, and helped a Saint Ignatius relay team win an event.

First on Zuccaro's list of accomplishments is his new school record. Zuccaro won the 200m dash with a time of 21.39, beating James Norris' record in the process. Norris set the mark last year with a time of 21.5 before Zuccaro beat his record over the weekend.

Zuccaro then captured a victory in the 100m dash, clocking in at 11 seconds exactly, his second individual triumph of the meet.

To top it off, Zuccaro combined with Connor Kennedy, Jack Kennedy, and Anthony Pelligrino to secure the victory in the 4x100m relay victory, notching a time of 43.08.

Zuccaro qualifies for Regionals in these three events thanks to his quickness on the track for the Wildcats.

Regionals begin today at 4 p.m. Amherst Steele will again serve as the host of the meet after holding Districts. Seeding takes place today, along with a handful of relay and field finals, with most of the finals taking place on Friday.

Congrats to Phil on his new school record and his student-athlete of the week award, and best of luck at Regionals!
