The first season of OHSAA play has been a memorable one for the Saint Ignatius lacrosse team. As a result, the Wildcats are well-represented on the All-Region 2 Team.

Eight members of the Lax Cats received All-Region honors, bestowed upon them by the coaches in the OHSAA's Region 2. The region extends North to Cleveland, West to Youngstown, and South to Canton, incorporating some of the best lacrosse programs in the state.

Sean Keller and Carter Blossey lead the way at the first teamers for the Wildcats. Keller has 20 groundballs for the Lax Cats this season, serving as a top senior leader on defense for the Wildcats.

Blossey's honor as first-team goaltender is well-deserved. The senior has 131 saves on the season, including 8 saves on Saturday to surpass Patrick Bouman '02 for the school record for saves in a career with 459.

"I've loved wearing the blue and gold these past four years," Blossey said. "Thanks to all of my defensemen who have stood by me and in front of me over the years. We still have history to make. Go Cats."

Anthony Ameo III joined Blossey and Keller on the first-team as the Face Off Player of the Year. The junior, bound for Ohio State in a couple years, leads the Wildcats with a faceoff percentage of 77%, winning 220-of-286 faceoffs this year.

Three Wildcats received places on the second-team – Brent Chernosky, Michael Boehm, and Grant Geary. Chernosky, headed to Bellarmine University in the fall, has notched 16 goals and 2 assists in his senior campaign at midfielder. He served as a big leader for the Wildcats this year.

Boehm has broken out as one of the most promising lacrosse players to ever enter the Saint Ignatius program. The freshman has an impressive 33 goals, 18 assists, and 51 points, all tops on the team. Boehm also has 40 ground balls, second only to Ameo's 134.

Grant Geary served as an expert long stick middie (LSM) for the blue and gold this season. Geary had 7 ground balls on the scoresheet this year, but made a big impact off the stat sheet as a sophomore.

Rounding out the Wildcats' elite eight were Chris Larsen and Aaron Casile. Both expert defenders, the two received honorable mention status. The duo combined for 2 goals, 4 assists, and 39 groundballs. The two did plenty of damage on defense, thwarting offensive attacks and keeping shots away from Blossey's net.

The Wildcats' eight All-Region players will return to action tomorrow. The Lax Cats will travel to face Hudson on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Regional Semifinal.

Congrats to these eight Wildcats, and best of luck tomorrow in Hudson.
