The Saint Ignatius lacrosse team's 8-6 campaign has earned the squad a spot in the "B" bracket of the 2017 Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association (MSLCA) Tournament.

The Lax Cats have drawn a rematch with Western Reserve Academy on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Wildcats won the previous matchup on April 5, 10-4.

Following Friday's contest, the Wildcats will either face Mount Lebanon (PA) or Olentangy on Saturday morning. The Wildcats have not faced either team this season.

WRA has the honor of hosting the annual tournament this year. The MSLCA Tournament will feature 16 teams – 4 in the "A" bracket, 4 in the "B" bracket, and the remaining 8 in a bracket. The MSLCA has held the tournament since 1973. Teams from Ohio, Michigan, and western Pennsylvania will be playing in the tournament this year.

Last season, the Lax Cats defeated Worthington Kilbourne, 8-7, in triple overtime. Then the Wildcats beat The Kiski School (PA) the next day, 11-7. The pair of wins propelled the Wildcats all the way to the OHSLA Championship game.

Whatever the results this weekend, the Lax Cats begin the OHSAA Tournament next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. with a contest against Cleveland Heights.
