The OHSAA has released the bracket for the first-ever OHSAA Division I Lacrosse Tournament.

The Saint Ignatius lacrosse team will host Cleveland Heights in the regional qualifying round, on May 17 at Wasmer Field.

2017 marks the first year the OHSAA has sponsored boys and girls lacrosse, one year removed from the Lax Cats' second-place finish in the OHSLA Tournament.

The Wildcats stand at 8-5 heading into the tournament following a 9-2 loss to St. Xavier on Friday. The Lax Cats will have a bit of time off to prepare for the Midwest Tournament this weekend, which will precede the OHSAA Tournament.

The Tigers currently have a 3-6 record heading into road contests versus Chardon and Berea-Midpark today and tomorrow. The Wildcats and Tigers do not have any common opponents, though the JV Blue Cats defeated Avon's varsity squad, 19-4, while the Tigers fell to the Eagles, 16-8.

Should the Wildcats win, the Lax Cats would advance to the Regional Quarterfinals on May 20, hosting either Shaker Heights or Stow-Munroe.

The Regional Semifinals are set for May 24 and the Regional Finals are scheduled for May 27, with the State Semifinals on May 31. Click here for the full schedule.

The SIBN will have coverage of the Lax Cats' playoff run, audio-only due to OHSAA regulations.

Stay tuned for the release of the time of the Cleveland Heights game on May 17.
