The Wildcats will host the Eagles on Saturday at 12:30.

The No. 1 rugby team in the nation just keeps rolling.

The Wildcats defeated Brunswick on Wednesday evening, 31-7, advancing to 12-1 overall on the season.

The Rugby Cats traveled a short distance for the Wednesday evening contest, playing at Brunswick. The short trip did not affect the Wildcats, as the visitors got out to a quick 5-0 lead. Senior Matt Miller dove in for the try with 24 minutes left in the first for the Wildcats to stake the early advantage.

Miller soon struck again, notching his second try of the day. Reigning Student-Athlete of the Week Chris Fedor made the conversion, setting the score at 12-0 Wildcats.

Joe Johnson, also a star kegler for the Alley Cats, scored next on a Wildcat conversion. Fedor again booted the ball through the uprights for two points, granting the Wildcats a 19-point lead.

With 10 minutes remaining in the first, the Wildcats scored again. This time, it was Eddie Patton touching the ball in the try zone. Fedor notched his third conversion of the contest, making the score 26-0.

The Blue Devils managed to find the try zone soon after, also finishing the conversion. But the Wildcats soon responded in kind. Senior Jimmy Andrews, a standout running back for the Football Cats, made West Park proud with a 50-yard breakaway try.

Andrews' try would stand as the final points of the match. The Wildcats walked away with a 31-7 victory, the team's fourth straight win.

WILDCAT GAMEBREAKER: Alex Chura received national recognition this week from the Goff Rugby Report. The junior, an Our Lady of Angels Cougar, scored a "brilliant counter-attack try," as Alex Goff noted in his weekly Gamebreakers article. Congrats to Chura on receiving this well-received recognition.

DEVELOPING A WINNER: The Wildcats' developmental squad defeated Brunswick on Wednesday, too, 22-12. The Developmental Cats stand at 7-1-1 on the season.

NEXT UP: With Brunswick in the rear view mirror, a difficult opponent has come into view – the St. Edward Eagles.

The Eagles currently stand at No. 5 in the Goff Rugby Report national rankings. The Eagles' website has the A-side at 6-3 on the year. St. Edward's three losses have come to the Cathedral Royal Irish (IN) and Penn, both teams the Wildcats have defeated this season. The Eagles most recently played Avon at home on Monday and defeated St. Xavier at home on Saturday, 62-7.

The A-side contest is slated for 12:30 p.m., the B-side contest will take place at 2, C-side at 3:30, and developmental at 5.

All contests are at Wasmer Field, with times subject to change due to weather conditions, which looks rainy based on early weather forecasts.
