The Wildcats' relay teams performed quite well at Amherst.

This weekend, the Saint Ignatius track and field team was back at it again. The Wildcats took home the 62nd Annual Comet Relay title on Saturday at Amherst Steele.

This was another impressive win for the Cats, as they beat the runner-up Solon by a total of 16 points. The Wildcats scored in 16 of 17 events, to earn a total of 101 points and secure the title.

Some of the highlights include Phil Zuccaro taking first place once again in the 100m dash with another impressive time of 11.12.  In the 1600m, Duke commit CJ Ambrosio took second with a time of 4:23.93.

Sophomore John Wetula made his mark when he placed in all three of his hurdle events, taking home a pair of second-place finishes and a fifth place as well.

The Cats 4x100 relay team was back at it again as well, taking another first place finish. The Kennedy brothers, Connor and Jack, teamed up with Andrew Phillips and Phil Zuccaro to clinch the victory.

The 4x1600 distance relay team, made up of Pat Nolan, Andrew Szendrey, CJ Ambrosio, and Liam McGuire, also had a solid finish, taking second with a time of 18:10.10.

In the high jump relay, the team made up of Mike Lehto, Dante Frabotta, and Mac Nagel combined to take first.

Along with the highlighted finishes, there were several other top five finishes in this meet that all helped to secure another solid win for the Track Cats.

This is a great sign for the Wildcats as they move forward with another impressive season under Head Coach Chuck Kyle '69.

The team’s next meet is at the Titan Kiwanis Relays at Berea-Midpark High School this Friday, April 28, starting at noon.
