The season is off to a great start for the Saint Ignatius lacrosse team, and one player has played a big role. 

That player is Anthony Ameo, the student-athlete of the week.

The junior guided the Lax Cats to a 9-4 win over St. Ignatius College Prep (IL) on Saturday. Ameo performed quite well in the season opening victory.

Ameo won 10-of-12 faceoffs for the Wildcats as the team's big man in the circle. The Ohio State commit managed an impressive seven groundballs, and also found the back of the net in the contest for his first goal of the 2017 season.  

After starting off the season with a win, Ameo and the Lax Cats will travel down to Cincinnati this weekend to face Archbishop Moeller. The Crusaders will be a good early season challenge for the Wildcats.
